چکیده

Fast Analog Signal Processor FASP-0.1 [1, 2] is a prototype ASIC designed at NIPNE for HCR-TRD having in mind the CBM experiment at FAIR. In this contribution we report on relevant measured parameters of ASIC analog channels and a FEE based on FASP, designed and built for in-beam tests of our HCR-TRD prototypes [3]. ASIC measured parameters [4, 5] Quiescent supply current (VD = 3.3V): 30mA ±1mA. Output baseline shift : with power supply (VD = 3.03.6V): < 0.07%; with detector leakage current (IL=± 50nA):<9μV/nA. Conversion gain G vs. Cdet (for FAST outputs): Integral nonliniarity (INL)(0-1V linear range):

Design and performance of the ALICE TRD front-end electronics

The Transition Radiation Detector (TRD) of the ALICE experiment at CERN incorporates 1.2 million channels which are individually read out and processed. The front-end electronics (FEE) utilizes two custom chips: an 18 channel analog preamplifier and shaper (PASA) and a mixed-signal chip, performing 10 bit analog-to-digital conversion, event buffering and local tracking (TRAP). Both chips togeth...

Mass test of the ALICE TRD front end electronics at IKF

The Transition Radiation Detector (TRD) [1] is one of the main detector components of the ALICE experiment. It consists of 18 supermodules mounted cylindrical around the beam axis of the LHC. Every supermodule is assembled out of 30 Readout Chambers (ROC) of different types. These ROCs are equipped with front end electronics (FEE) and tested at the Institut für Kernphysik Frankfurt (IKF) [2]. I...

High efficiency Transition Radiation Detectors for high counting rate environments

One of the options currently considered for lepton identification with the CBM experiment [1] for FAIR is a shell of multiple layers of Transition Radiation Detectors (TRD). Being a heavy-ion fixed target experiment in the energy range of 5-35 A·GeV the goal of CBM is to look for rare probes using the unique performance of FAIR in terms of high intensity heavy ion beams. This requires a high gr...

High Rate Photon Irradiation Test of an 8-Plane ATLAS Transition Radiation Tracker Sector Prototype

In this document we report the results from a high rate photon irradiation test of an ATLAS Transition Radiation Tracker 8-plane endcap sector prototype with 192 straws instrumented with near to final front-end electronics. Data was taken at the CERN X5 Gamma Irradiation Facility with a Cs photon source, and at the Weizmann Institute irradiation facility in Israel with a Gammabeam 150 Co source...

High efficiency TRD for CBM in test beam and simulation

The CBM (Compressed Baryonic Matter) experiment is designed as a fixed target experiment, in which a TRD shall provide tracking of all charged particles, electron identification and discrimination against a large pion background. In order to fulfill these tasks in the context of high count rates of up to 150 kHz/cm and high particle multiplicities, we constructed TRD prototypes based on a symme...
